If the Catalog Configurator is not running, please launch it now (select Start, All Programs, ProENTRY IV, Catalog and Data management) ProENTRY IV will next present you with the MS SQL login window. If you have installed the Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine (MSDE), you will connect automatically; please go to step 3, below.

The Connect window will display briefly while ProENTRY IV connects to the SQL server.

During the initial startup, you will see numerous progress windows popup as the database is populated. Please be patient as this can take quite a while.
Since this will be the first time you have launched ProENTRY IV, it will be necessary to add the first user. ProENTRY IV will display a simple wizard to collect the required data and create the first user account. The first step will be to accept or enter your company name.

Next, accept or enter your first and last name and a Login Name. The Login Name is the name by which ProENTRY IV recognizes you when logging in.

After entering your name and Login Name, ProENTRY IV will display an important message concerning your Login Name and initial Password. Please take careful note of these as they cannot be recovered if lost or forgotten. You can and should change your password later.

You are now finished creating your first user. Select Finish to continue.
Log into ProENTRY IV using your newly created user account. Simply enter your User Name and Password. If you have never activated your ProENTRY IV license (or if your license has expired), the Product Activation window will be displayed. Instructions for this window are provided on screen and in the ProENTRY IV download notification email message you received.
The Catalog Configurator will now open. Note: This may take several minutes while ProENTRY IV creates numerous data tables and inserts default data. Please be patient. If you did not activate your ProENTRY IV license, a background window will be displayed indicating that you are operating in evaluation mode. Some features will not be available in this mode.
After preparing the new database, ProENTRY IV will display the Catalog and Data Maintenance module and automatically open the Setup Assistant. The Setup Assistant provides a structured environment with on screen tips and pointers to guide you through entering basic data and preparing ProENTRY IV for use.

ProENTRY IV is a sophisticated and highly capable tool; therefore, questions will almost certainly arise during the setup phase. Please contact us for assistance and advice -- your success and satisfaction are our goals. |
